Conte Crayon

A charming image of school children lined up in a row holding their pencils (crayon) in French; each pencil has the name of the child inscribed on it. Mon prenom sur mon crayon: "My first name on my pencil". The drawing pencil was named after Nicolas - Jacques Conte, the French Scientist who invented it in 1795; it was originally made of clay and graphite and came in black, white and sanguine.
